NFPK odměnil statečnou ženu ze Znojma

The Anticorruption Endowment awards CZK 300,000 to Renata Horáková from Znojmo for boldly blowing the whistle on corrupt practices at Znojmo Town Hall. She received prize for her courage from the Chairman of the NFPK Board of Directors, Karel Janeček.

As Head of the Znojmo Town Hall Department of Property Management, Ms Renata Horáková did not bow to perks, pressure and intimidation by former Municipal office chief Vladimír Krejčíř and former mayor Zbyšek Kaššai and went to battle in a way quite unusual in the Czech Republic. She has saved tens of millions of crowns for the City of Znojmo.

“All too characteristically, the town hall management removed Ms Horáková to a junior position and subsequently declared her redundant,” says Chairman of NFPK Board of Directors Karel Janeček, who adds: “However, people like Renata Horáková are never redundant, and this society badly needs them. It is corrupt elements, who are quite redundant and deserve not only to be fired.” The corruption case with several people charged has been sent to court.

Ninth of December was not an accidental choice of date for awarding the Prize for Courage. Since 2003 it has been marked ad a Day of Struggle against Corruption. In future the Anticorruption Endowment intends to award prizes for courage on this day of year.
