Ceny za odvahu 2017

The Anticorruption Endowment (NFPK)  has awarded its seventh annual Prizes for Courage. We reward people who do not fear to blow the whistle on corrupt conduct regardless of the hardship they may face afterward. This year’s winners are Miloslava Pošvářová, Jakub Čech and the public benefit organization, ROMEA. The NFPK distributed to the awardees the sums of 12*213 Kč, 12*21*121 Kč and 1212 Kč, i.e. CZK 111,132, 30,492 and 14,641.

Miloslava Pošvářová is a court expert on transport construction projects. She often examined difficult cases in her spare time. She never bulked to professional pressure and forged ahead in an effort to introduce measures that help save public funds. Because of her straightforward attitudes she had to give up well-paid jobs and cope with very many unusual hurdles.

Jakub Čech is a bright and determined citizen, consistently checking suspect data on the economic fortunes of the City of Prostějov. He has uncanny knack  on legislative matters and regulations and can use the right legal instruments to bring about a change. At the same time he is hard and uncompromising in his assessment of would-be suspects. Though young he has faced consequences and is awaiting legal action.

The Anticorruption Endowment (NFPK) awarded the public-benefit association ROMEA for helping to disclose political corruption and trade in poverty.

“I am very glad to see that the Anticorruption Endowment keeps tracing beautiful people who deserve a prize for courage. Because of their bold action, all our past awardees faced any conceivable form of attacks, including physical threats.  All corruption whistleblowers and other public activists, who venture to take big personal risks in the name of justice and truth must be treated as the heroes that they truly are indeed. I am happy to see our Endowment contribute just to this.  However, the conditions for whistleblower need to be further improved so they can find support in our laws. We are witness to a historic transformation of the human society and it is the key responsibility for each of us to contribute—each according to his means—to the commendable goal”, NFPK founder Karl Janeček declared on the occasion of today’s Award Ceremony.

The Anticorruption Endowment is a fully independent initiative by people radically unprepared to accept a high level of corruption in state administration. One of our goals is to help expose corruption in state administration and support projects exposing corruption.

The Anticorruption Endowment has awarded Prizes for Courage to  worthy persons since its foundation in 2011. Details about our awardees can be gleaned on http://www.nfpk.cz/en/whistleblowers.
