Čas oligarchů, jejich sluhů a nepřátel

At a mews conference today, the Anticorruption Endowment (NFPK) presented and launched the book, Time for Oligarchs, Their Lackeys and Foes, written by NFPK lawyer Ondřej Závodský. As tradition dictates, this publication has no godfather or patron, since fighting “godfathers” of any hue in public life is the core mission of the Anticorruption Endowment.

The book examines historical developments, definitions of the various oligarchic groups and expressions of oligarchization as a new threat to the young Czech democracy. Ondřej Závodský based his findings on several years of coexistence with Andrej Babiš at the Czech Ministry of Finance and offered a candid account of the ways, objectives and behind-the-scenes schemes pursued by this oligarch.

“In my book, I did not limit myself to criticizing the present system, but I also analysed the various “battlefields” where oligarchic interests clash with core democratic principles and suggested a way out from the current miserable situation,” Ondřej Závodský summed up the essence of his book.

Karel Janeček, founder and head of the board of trustees of the Anticorruption Endowment, told the news conference: “I agree with Ondřej that civic society is a cure for the wrongdoings of oligarchic malvenoms. I am glad to see that these theories nicely complement one another and tally with the imperative to change the electoral system so that the Janeček Method weakens the position of oligarchs and populists of every colour and description.”

The publication is available for FREE (including e-formats PDF, EPUB and MOBI) to the NFPK supporters and can be downloaded from our website. It will shortly become available in an electronic form also from the Alza.cz and Kosmas.cz e-shops. The price of CZK 10,00 charged by these portals will be wholly or partly used to support the NFPK. Printed copies of the book could be purchased from the Euromedia distribution network, with part of the proceeds also used in support of the activities of the Anticorruption Endowment.

The Anticorruption Endowment is a fully independent project, pursued by people radically unprepared to tolerate rampant corruption in state administration. One of our goals is to help expose corruption in state administration and support projects exposing corrupt conduct.
