Nadační fond proti korupci podpořil bývalého policistu Jiřího Komárka

At a news conference today, the Anticorruption Endowment threw its weight in support of the former head of the Ostrava section of the Organized Crime Exposure Unit, Jiří Komárek. Col. Komárek was one of the leading and most vocal critics of a hasty, problematic reshuffle in the police force, which he suspected aimed to throw a spanner in the works of a successful anticorruption unit and demote its chief, Robert Šlachta.

Jiří Komárek did not hesitate to stand by his boss and expose, in the interest of the general public, that sensitive information may have leaked from circles close to Police President Tomáš Tuhý. Having totally lost confidence in the management, represented by the police president and the minister of the interior, he asked to be released from the police service. But his salary was truncated and ultimately he found himself facing charges, which meant the loss of rent for many years of service. The Anticorruption Endowment has decided to offer him with support and legal assistance.

Jiří Komárek is an honest and courageous man. His moral integrity is best illustrated by his refusal to accept a 10-million-crown bribe from Methanol King Březina. He has boldly challenged power-hungry malvenoms Chovanec and Tuhý, and their criminal plot called police reform. Protecting and helping people like Mr. Komárek was the primary reason for setting up the Anticorruption Endowment. Let’s stand by truth and justice,” NFPK founder and chairman of the board of trustees Karel Janeček told the press today.

The Anticorruption Endowment is a fully independent initiative by people radically unprepared to accept a high level of corruption in state administration. One of our goals is to help expose corruption in state administration and support projects exposing corruption.
